The sign Libra rises in the ascendant and Mercury, Rahu and Ketu become functional malefic planets. The lord of the ascendant is weak as it is badly placed in the chart and is in old-age. Besides its being in the eighth house, it is in its sign of debilitation in the navamsa and afflicted by Ketu. Mars and Jupiter are strong in the chart. The weak Mercury is closely afflicted by Rahu. The Moon is weak due to the weakness of its dispositor. The Moon is also afflicted by Ketu. Saturn, the significator for longevity, is weak as it is placed in the state of old-age.

In ashthamsa (D-VIII), the weak Mercury becomes the lord of the ascendant. Mercury is posited in the eighth house and is being afflicted by Rahu, Ketu and Mars. In ashthamsa, Jupiter is debilitated and afflicted by Mars. In D-VIII Mars afflicts also Venus, Saturn and the Sun while Rahu-Ketu afflict also the Moon and the Sun.

The native died at the age of 51 years. The weakness of planets and close afflictions in the natal chart did not allow operation of the results ascribed to the Hamsa Yoga in full.

The Sun, the Moon and Venus are afflicted by Mars. Saturn is badly placed, afflicted and its dispositor becomes further weak and afflicted. Due to the weakness of the ascendant, its lord, the Moon and the afflictions in the ashthamsa chart, the native was only blessed a middle life span. The native died during the main period of Venus and sub-period of Jupiter.

The sign Capricorn rises in the ascendant and the Sun, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu become functional malefic planets. The prime determinant of longevity is the Sun. The Sun is weak as it is in the state of debilitation and its dispositor is badly placed. Jupiter is weak as it is badly placed in the chart. Venus and the significator of longevity, Saturn, are weak as their dispositor is badly placed in the chart. The combust Mars and Mercury are additionally weak as their dispositor is badly placed in the chart. The only strong planet in the chart is the Moon. The functional malefic planet, the Sun, closely afflicts combust Mercury.

Let us see the position in ashthamsa. The sign Leo rises in the ascendant. Venus is debilitated. The Sun is weak in the nativity. In D-VIII, the most malefic planet occupies the ascendant and afflicts Mercury, as well. Rahu and Ketu occupy the house of happiness of the D-VIII.

The native died at the age of six months in the sub-period of Saturn in the main period of the Moon. At the time of the death, Rahu was transiting the most effective point of the ascendant and the Moon in degree conjunction.

The significator for longevity, Saturn, is weak as it is occupying the sign of a weak (combust) Jupiter. Mercury is weak as it is debilitated in navamsa. The Sun is weak as it is in the state of infancy and occupies debilitated navamsa. Rahu closely aspects and afflicts the weak Sun. The lord of the development i.e. third house is posited in the sixth house in its sign of debilitation. The most effective point of the third house is closely afflicted by the functional malefic planet, the Moon.

Let us analyse the ashthamsa chart. The mooltrikona sign of weak Mars rises. Rahu and Ketu afflict Venus, Jupiter, the Moon and Mars. Mercury afflicts the Sun.

The native was having 24 days as balance of Rahu dasa which means main period of Rahu, sub-period of Mars. As Mars is weak and the functional malefic, the Moon, closely aspects the most effective point of the third house, it was assessed that passing 24 days was very difficult for the child. The parents were advised remedial measures but they failed to perform the same as Jupiter the planet of divine grace is combust and weak in the nativity.

The native died on the 24th day of his life due to severe sickness developed on the 23rd day. The sub-period lord, the weak Mars, happened to be the lord of the ascendant of the ashthamsa.
