ORGANISED IN COLLABORATION WITH
THE SYSTEMS' INSTITUTE OF HINDU ASTROLOGY, GURGAON.

Club Patio South, South City-II,
Gurgaon, India.
27th and 28th December, 2014.

Proceedings of the Tenth SA International Conference [December 27 and 28, 2014], at Gurgaon, India:

Prof V K Choudhry commenced his inaugural address with the invocation of Lord Ganesha’s Grace, by the chanting of Sri Ganesha Mantra

He welcomed all the delegates to this December, 2014, conference, and conveyed the warm good wishes that many SA astrologers had sent for this special occasion-because they could not actually be present at this conference. Dr. Shayn Smith, Chapter President, IIPA, Colorado, sent the following message for the Conference participants:

"Please accept my best wishes for a successful conference of the International Institute of Predictive Astrology. Over 40 years years I have studied and practiced many forms of predictive astrological techniques, but I have seen none come close to the stunning precision and accuracy of the Systems Approach to Vedic Astrology developed by our dear Professor Choudhry. Our SA community of astrologers along with their family, friends, and clients are extremely fortunate to benefit from the wisdom of this powerful tool. I am certain that this year's assemblage of the top astrologers once again will see confirmation of the remarkable results of SA, reveal new sutras, and enjoy each other's company in Gurgaon this weekend. I will be with you all in spirit and will look forward to a summary of the proceedings."

Dear Professor Choudhry,
Dear Rajesh Choudhary
and dear participants,

We wish all participants of the International Conference of SA astrologers in Gurgaon a very successful conference under the guiding light of our dear Professor Choudhry.

Besides, Mr. David Hawthorne, President, IIPA, the SA astrologers, Dr. Sankara Bhagavadpara, Chennai, India; Mr Thor Thorgiersson (Iceland); Ms Mary Wright, USA; Mr Jo Cohen (France); Mr Remi Panisett (France), Mr. Ajay Sehgal, Ms Karadgi Vasudev, Ms Sunita Singhal, Mr. Arun Birla, Mr. Keyur Joshi and Mr. V K Vidyadhar (Australia) sent their good wishes for the Conference participants and for the success of the Conference.

Prof V K Choudhry continued his address.

The conference is organised by IIPA in collaboration with the Systems' Institute of Hindu Astrology Gurgaon.

The aim of the conference is to sharpen the predictive skills of the participating astrologers. During the proceedings of the conference participants shared their experiences and discussed techniques for making astrology consultation more effective and meaningful. The focus of this conference was on horoscope matching for marital relationship and how to deal with marriage and progeny concerns.

As you all know the predictive techniques of SA help in easy comprehension, greater confidence, speed analysis, dependability and accuracy. The key factors for horoscope analysis are (1) functional nature of the planets in a birth chart, (2) the placement of planets, (3) strength of planets, (4) the close and effective relationship of a planet with other planets and houses which is identified through conjunctions, aspects and placements (5) planetary periods (6) tripple transit influences and (7) analysis of planetary influences only with reference to ascendant. Transit influences take precedence over sub period results. The strong/exact afflictions to natal planets are not easy things to be dealt with. Continuous propitiation for functional malefic planets with strengthening of weak and afflicted functional benefic planets help. The events in life take place as per the indications of planetary influences in our natal horoscopes. The change agent is the astral remedies which bring change and improements in our existing circumstances.

Let us see an example horoscope which was discussed in the last Conference.

The lord of the third house is placed in the twelfth house which resulted into many ventures in foreign lands. As the lord of the twelfth house is in exact conjunction with Rahu he faced many setbacks in these ventures. On 10th November, 2014, the wife of this person sent in a message saying, " I think I am going thru the worst time of my life. Since the time Arun entered the main period of Mars our export business has stopped. there actually has been zero income. even after trying extensively we have not received a single order. he does not want to work now, there is no business, he is sleeping all the time." In his chart Mars is the lord of the twelfth house and it is under dual exact affliction of Rahu and Ketu. The sub periods of Mars, Rahu and Jupiter in the main period of Mars as indicated in advance by Systems' Approach brought tremendous difficulties for them. On 26th of December, 2014, we received the following message from this person on SATVA at Yahoo Groups:

Dear Choudhry jee,

It's a great pleasure to announce our win in the China court case, on 18 Dec 2014.

The case was filed and initiated according to guruji's advise and in name of Nidhi. However, I ended up doing all the arguments and thinking. She made greater efforts and braver moves once I put the pieces together.

Now, since I am on cusp. And there is no concept of a cusp in SA, this is the only point that needs clarification.

We are indebted eternally to sh Choudhry jee's help and guidance. Our luck has practically got transformed performing the remedies and this event is the biggest proof that no matter what the charts show, kavach and SPL power kavach and remedies togather with blessings of Choudhary jee have proved to transform the destiny of our lives.

The strong planets in the birth chart help in bringing down the impact of strong afflictions.

Let us see an example chart of a female:

In this chart there are strong afflictions to the weak Moon and Mercury by the aspect of Rahu. But due to the strong Sun and Mars in the birth chart the level of afflictions were reduced and the lady enjoyed good health besides having a successful career as an officer. The strength of the Sun also covered the weakness of the lord of the fourth house, Venus.

The strong planets, in general, give good results for their significations throughout the life. Where there are no strong or well placed planets, the change comes with difficulty through strengthening measures and regular propitiaton of the functional malefic planets.

The close and effective relationship of a planet with other planets and houses is another important tool for analysis. For example, see the chart of a male:

The lord of the sixth house is placed in the second house ruling family. The native faced many disputes and litigations with the members of his family. The lords of the ninth and eleventh houses are placed in the sixth house and are under close affliction of Ketu. Not only the native lost father early and faced property disputes but also faced persisting disputes in his work place - the source of income.

The Systems'Approach has cleared the myth of factors like maraka planets, impact of planets in the sixth house, etc. amongst other principles. Some of the earlier books mentioned the lords of the second and seventh houses as marka or death inflicting planets. Even the planets placed in these two houses were also mentioned to be giving the results of marka planets. This is absolutely wrong. The strong or fairly well placed lords of the second and fourth houses bring education, wealth, recognition and charm to life. It was also earlier said that the malefic planets placed in the sixth house bring good results. This is also absolutely wrong. The planets placed in the sixth house, except the mooltrikona sign lord of the sixth house, itself, bring disputes, diseases and financial stress in their sub periods and during the prolonged transit stay in the sixth house.

The conjunctions and aspects help us in identifying the auspicious and inauspicious planetary configurations. The placement of a planet links the significations of the house ruled by it with the significations of its house of placement. A weak and afflicted planet indicates sufferings through the significations ruled by the said planet. The blessed ones are impelled by the divine forces for making use of the astral remedies in the form of propitiating functional malefic planets and strengthening weak functional benefic planets. Preventive astrology remedies are best.

The planets placed in the bad houses are in difficulty and cannot help the person. The badly placed planets become weak and afflicted and cause problems to the person. When these weak planets are functional benefic planets, they need strengthening for showing better results.

When the functional malefic planets are strong and they are not influencing other planets / houses closely, they also give us good results pertaining to their significations.

When the functional benefic or malefic planets are weak they become source of problems for the significations ruled by them during the course of transit afflictions.

During the Ninth Conference the methodology of scientific analysis of a horoscope and the role of Astrology Remedies was discussed. Those of you, who were not present in the last Conference, can refer to the proceedings of the last Conference. Prof V K Choudhry also thrown light on the following topics:

1. AFFLICTED DISPOSITOR: If a dispositor is afflicted then the significations of the planets placed in the mooltrikona sign of the afflicted planet get damaged tremendously.

2. ULTIMATE DISPOSITOR: For identifying the strength of a planet the strength of ultimate dispositor should be considered.

3. EXACT NODAL AFFLICTION TO MEP OF HOUSES: If Rahu and Ketu are on MEP then there are tremendous problems for the person and specially for houses whose lords are weak. The life remains challenging and the person becomes vulnerable to serious / critical illnesses. Application of astral remedies in such cases help tremendously. Case studies discussed included both for the results for such afflictions (a) where no astral remedies were performed and (b) where the astral remedies were performed.

4. EXACT MMP AFFLICTION. This affliction causes serious problems in life and a number of case studies were discussed on this topic. During the course of discussions may case studies were brought up.

The focus of this Conference was marriage, horoscope matching, delay in marriage and progeny matters. We desire a happy, timely and successful marriage. Marriage is an institution for continuance of mankind. A happy marriage creates opportunities for material and spiritual growth. The marriage partner becomes one's natural ally or friend. The spouse provides with an opportunity to confide in, to be heard, counsel and to plan for the future besides catering to his/her physical needs without any selfish consideration. The attainments of one's life are generally dependent upon one's successful and happy marital relationship. The happiness in marital life depends upon the mutual trust, good health of the couple, their understanding and birth of children, post marital material prosperity and spiritualistic initiation. The mutual trust is generated by benefic influence on the planets becoming significators for the marriage and the absence of the afflicting influence of the functionally malefic planets. The good health of the couple is ruled by the first and seventh houses besides the significators of marriage and the Sun, the significator for vitality. The birth of children is dependent upon a strong/well-placed/unafflicted lord of the fifth house, Jupiter, and the lord of the second house. Post marital prosperity and the spiritual development depend upon the operation of the periods of the functional benefic, well-placed and strong/unafflicted planets. Besides the operating planetary periods of the well-placed/unafflicted or strong functional benefic planets, long-term marital happiness is ruled by :-

(1) Strong or well placed and unafflicted determinant for marriage.

(2) Strong or well placed and unafflicted significator for marriage partner. For example, Jupiter is significator for the husband and Venus is significator for the wife.

(3) Strong or well placed and unafflicted lord of the second house which rules the family and the continuance of the family line. It not only strengthens the marital bond but also blesses the native with male progeny which is sought after, universally.

(4) Strong or well placed and unafflicted lord of the fourth house ruling domestic peace and marital harmony.

(5) Strong or well placed and unafflicted and unafflicting lord of the eighth house ruling the marital tie.

(6) Strong or well placed and unafflicted and unafflicting lord of the twelfth house ruling comforts of bed and good sleep. A weak lord of the twelfth house or afflictions to the twelfth house or affliction to the lord of the twelfth house causes separation between the married partners impacting the bed comforts and loss of sound and peaceful sleep.

MARRIAGE DETERMINANT

(1) The lord of the seventh house containing a mooltrikona sign becomes the prime determinant of marriage. In case there is no mooltrikona sign in the seventh house, then the lord of the houses signifying marriage (the second, fourth, eighth or twelfth house containing a mooltrikona sign) are considered as determinants of marriage. If a mooltrikona sign rises in the navamsa (D-IX), the lord of the same becomes additional prime determinant of marriage.

(2) Venus and Jupiter are significators of marriage for males and females, respectively.

Marriage can also take place in the sub-periods of the unafflicted planets placed in the houses signifying marriage. Planets that closely influence by placement or aspect the MEP of any house signifying marriage and/or its lord become secondary significators of marriage.

If the prime determinants and the significator of marriage are strong or well placed and unafflicted and there is no affliction to the most effective points of the houses signifying marriage, the marriage takes place at the appropriate marriageable age of the native. The good strength of Venus hastens the process. The delay and problems in marriage are caused by:

(1) The close influence of the functional malefic planets or the most malefic planet on the prime determinant for marriage;

(2) Significator of marriage being weak, badly placed and/or afflicted.

(3) When the prime determinant and secondary significators are weak and/or afflicted.

(4) When the lords of the eighth and/or twelfth houses containing a mooltrikona sign are weak, badly placed and/or afflicted.

(5) The impact of lord of the sixth house on the houses / planet ruling marriage.

(6) The placement of prime determinant of marriage or the lord of the second or fourth house in the sixth house.

The influence of the functional malefic planets delays while the influence of the most malefic planet (MMP) delays inordinately and/or denies. The malefic influence of the MMP cannot be mellowed without persistent performance of the appropriate astral remedies.

"HOROSCOPE MATCHING FOR MARRIAGE - COMPATIBILITY ANALYSIS"

Cent percent marital bliss is a rare phenomenon. However, there are cases where the discords in marital affairs are momentary. Astrology can be helpful in avoiding the circumstances leading to the baneful happenings by matching the horoscopes for mental compatibilities, supplementing the planetary drawbacks in the horoscopes of intending matches and seeing whether main period and the sub-periods in operation will have any bad effect on the marital alliance. Although it is said that marriages are settled in heaven, yet there is tremendous help which can be provided by Astrology in the manner mentioned in the preceding sentence and suggestion of remedial measures for weak planetary combinations as well as for the afflictions of malefic planets. Advance astrological advice and astral remedies for the impending circumstances provide mental strength to the natives for bearing the tensions and strains.

Marital compatibility (MC) has to be seen on the following seven aspects for each person:

1. Health
2. Temperament
3. Sexual urges
4. Marital happiness
5. Longevity
6. Longevity of the marital tie
7. Spiritual development

Health is seen from (1) the lords of the ascendant and/or sixth house containing a mooltrikona sign, (2) the Sun, (3) the Moon, and the placement/strength/affliction of the planets (1) to (3) so identified. All the houses/planets are seen in both the charts.

Temperament is seen through the impact of the lord of the sixth house containing a mooltrikona sign not only on the most effective points of the houses ruling marriage i.e. the second, fourth, seventh, eighth and twelfth houses but also on the most effective points of the third, fifth and first houses and/or the placement of any of the lords of these houses containing a mooltrikona sign in the sixth house. One should see that there is no influence of the lord of the sixth house on the houses / planets ruling marriage. The lords of the first, second or third in the sixth house makes the person assertive and aggressive. This placement is not conducive for continuity of marriage. Lot of patience is to be advised wherever such placements are seen. Whenever the lord of the second house is in the sixth house, the speech of the person is such that it breeds conflicts and disputes. This is not conducive for the continuity of marriage. Such people should be advised to exercise control and patience on their spoken words which may create problem in the marital relationship. The lord of the fourth house in the sixth house or vice versa or the lord of the second house in the sixth house or vice versa or the lord of the seventh house in the sixth house or vice versa also threatens marital discord resulting into inharmonious marital relationship or divorce. Both astral remedies and behaviourial changes are required for the success of the relationship. The close influence of the lord of the sixth house on the MEP of the houses ruling marriage or their lords causes problems in marriage. For example, in Scorpio ascendant, Mars can afflict the second house MEP from eighth and elevelth houses or by sitting in the second house. Many case studies showing the impact of marital discord due to the (1) impact of the lord of the sixth house on the planets / houses ruling marital affairs; and (2) placement of the lords of the houses ruling marital affairs in the sixth house were discussed.

The close or exact impact of lord of the eighth house on the lord of the seventh house or on the most effective point of the seventh house or second house threatens the longevity on the spouse.

Let us see some examples here:

The sign Aquarius rises in the ascendant. Mercury is the most malefic planet, being lord of the eighth house. Mercury closely afflicts the lord of the seventh house, Sun, in the second house. Such a close affliction threatens the life of the spouse in early years of marriage. The wife of this native committed suicide after a few years of marriage. The seventh house contains two functional malefic planets, which indicate disturbance in the marital relationship. At the time of the suicide of the wife, transit Ketu was in exact conjunction with natal Venus and transit Venus was under the exact affliction of natal Ketu. The sub period was that of a well placed Jupiter which is debilitated in navamsa but the transit afflictions superseded the sub period results.

We will see the chart of the wife as next case study:

The sign Leo rises in the ascendant of the wife. Saturn being lord of the seventh house becomes the prime determinant of marriage. Saturn is badly placed and afflicted in the twelfth house. Jupiter, the significator for the husband, is under exact conjunction with Ketu. The most malefic planet, Moon, is placed in the fifth house.

The Sun as the lord of the ascendant is weak and the significator of longevity is weak due to bad placement. The weakness / affliction to the Sun, Saturn and Jupiter indicate a middle life span for her.

Rahu and Ketu also cause mild affliction to her natal Venus. Jupiter is lord of the fifth house and indicate psychological problem for her. As the transit Jupiter was in the twelfth house for the last over six months, her psychological concerns appear to have been persisting and these appear to have been the cause of her suicide.

Let us see another chart showing affliction of the most malefic planet to the lord of the seventh house:

The sign Aquarius rises in the ascendant. Mercury is the most malefic planet, being lord of the eighth house. Mercury closely afflicts the lord of the seventh house, Sun, in the second house. Such a close affliction threatens the life of the spouse in early years of marriage. The wife of this native felt depressed for lack of progeny even after ten years of marriage and threatened committing suicide if the husband did not do something for a child.

Let us see the factors which denied the progeny to this couple. The fifth and second houses do not contain mooltrikona signs. The most effective point of the second house is under the exact affliction of the most malefic planet, Mercury. It is the prime reason for denial of the child. Mars becomes the additional prime determinant of a child, being lord of the ascendant of Sapthamsa, the divisional chart for identifying the progeny results. Mars is under the exact affliction of Ketu in his natal chart and this affliction becomes another reason for denial of a child. Jupiter, the significator for children, is weak as it is debilitated in navamsa and its dispositor, Venus, is under the close affliction of the functional malefic planet, Moon.

For a number of years the wife was in depression and contemplated a suicide. Here the suicide attempt or the life could be only saved due to the persistent propitiatory astral remedies. The husband is a person knowledgeable in astrology. The fact of the child denial was brought to his notice even before marrige but he decided to go in for the marriage out of emotional attachment.

We will see the chart of the wife of the preceding case study as next case study:

The sign Capricorn rises in the ascendant of the wife. Saturn being lord of the second house becomes the prime determinant of wealth, status and family including birth of children. Saturn is badly placed in the house ruling obstructions. Jupiter being significator for progeny is placed in the sixth house. These factors resulted in lack of progeny.

In her chart, Venus, is strong which blessed the native with a fairly good job despite the weakness of the badly placed lord of the second house.

The Moon ruling the marriage is placed in the house of conflicts and health concerns. The Moon is also dispositor for Mars, the lord of the fourth house. Mars rules the mental peace. But the weakness of Mars due to debilitation, utter infancy and badly placed dispositor robbed the native of her mental peace. This weakness of Mars, bad placement of the Moon and bad placement of the lord of the second house resulted in a prolonged depression. The prolonged depression became the cause of thoughts of suicide which could only be prevented with the help of the astral remedies.

Sexual urges are seen through the influence of Mars, Rahu or the lords of the eighth and/or twelfth houses containing a mooltrikona sign on the MEP and/or lords of any of the houses related to marriage and/or ascendant as they excessively stimulate the urges. The close influence of Saturn and Ketu deflate the urges.

Marital happiness is seen through the strength of the seventh, second, fourth, eighth and twelfth houses. All the houses are seen. Afflictions harm relationships and cause termination of marital tie through divorce or death.

Longevity is seen through the strength of lords of the first, eighth and/or twelfth houses containing a mooltrikona sign and the significator of longevity, Saturn. All the houses/Saturn are seen in both the charts.

Longevity of the marital tie is seen through the strength of the seventh, eighth, second and twelfth houses. All the houses are considered in both the charts.

Spiritual development is seen through the strength of the fourth, ninth and tenth houses containing mooltrikona sign(s) and the planets the Sun and Jupiter. All the houses/planets are seen in both the charts.

Examining marital compatibility is much more than horoscope matching on the basis of the so-called nakshatra matching.

Best ascending signs for matching not only among themselves but also with even signs are Gemini, Aries, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius. The matter may be analyzed through an expert Systems' Approach astrologer.

Pisces, Virgo, Taurus, Cancer, Capricorn and Scorpio ascendants require a detailed matching analysis for marital compatibility and should better not be matched amongst themselves.

Not only the application of preventive astral remedies but also the election of a muhurta (auspicious time) for celebrating the marriage are very important for ensuring a long lasting marital relationship with comparatively more harmony. It makes it possible to match the even signs among themselves, wherever necessary.

FALLACY OF GUNA MATCHING SYSTEM

Guna matching system based on birth nakshatra of the would be bride and bride groom does not give the true picture of compatibility of relationship. It does not take into account the impact of lord of the sixth house on the planet / houses ruling marital happiness OR the planets ruling marital happiness placed in the sixth house. Sometimes Nakshatra Guna Matching may give 35 points of matching out of the total 36 points but still the longevity of the marital relationship may be poor.

Mr. Vivek Joshi delivered a lecture on essentials of Vastu. Prof Choudhry and other Astrologers also participated in the discussion.

PLANETARY INFLUENCES AND CHILDREN

The lords of the second and fifth houses containing a mooltrikona sign become prime determinants for the birth of children. The lord of the ascendant of Sapthamsa containing a mooltrikona sign becomes the additional determinant for the birth of children. Jupiter is the significator for male progeny. The Sun is secondary significator for the birth of a male child. The above planets when strong or even fairly strong with the operation of suitable sub-periods bless the native with happiness through children including a male child.

The strong lord of the fifth and second houses and the significator assure both birth and happiness of children whereas weakness and affliction to the planets / houses ruling progeny matters signify denial, grief and death of children. For example, natal or triple transit triggering influence of Rahu, Ketu or other functional malefic planet over the fifth lord and/or the second lord, MEPs of fifth and second houes and/or Jupiter and/or Sun, depending upon the natal strength of the planet under affliction, may cause suffering on account of loss of a son, running away of a son from home, son going astray, etc. As in other cases, application of astral remedies help in progeny problems, as well. This matter will be discussed through the case studies.

Over the two days about 80 case studies were discussed to show the impact of the exact nodal afflictions to most effective points of houses and to the planets, exact afflictions of functional malefic planets on other planets and houses, mutual afflictions of functional malefic planets. All the participants actively participated in discussions and even presented the case studies from their records. The participants shared their experiences and discussed techniques for making the astrological consultations more effective and meaningful.

The participants got the opportunity to discuss case studies with other astrologers during technical sessions and lunch / tea breaks for sharpening their analytical skills.
