Simple and Traditional

Remedial Measures

Believing that the remedial measures do work, we link the effectiveness of the astrological remedies through the blessings of a fairly strong Jupiter or a fairly strong Sun or a Sun-like planet in the nativity.  When a person is impelled by the divine force, only then does he/she seek the help of astrological remedial measures.  In the absence of strong planets representing the effectiveness of astrological remedies, the remedies take a long time in blessing the native with some results.  The righteous conduct of the person practicing this divine science is of paramount importance.  The remedial measures prescribed should also enable the person seeking help to be morally strong and advance towards righteous conduct for his/her mental peace and warding off the evil influences.

SIMPLE REMEDIAL MEASURES

In the application of the astrological remedial measures, the emphasis lies on the simplicity of propitiatory remedies so that the native, who has been advised these, can perform them with ease.  The publicity by word of those who have benefited through simple remedial measures results in the popularization of Systems' Approach Astrology and its astral remedies.

Although with literate persons simple propitiatory astrological remedial measures, sometimes, are difficult to be accepted for want of logic, yet those who have tried these have found them quite workable.  While the simple propitiatory remedial measures did help to remove afflictions, the requirement was to promote various aspects of life by strengthening the weak functional benefic planets. 

The Graha-Shanti (peace-making or propitiatory) remedies suggested by us are based on Bhoota yagyam, one of the Panch Maha Yagyas (five great sacrifices) mentioned in Vedic literature and the Upanishads. These are based on planetary tastes and preferences. Now, we would like to give descriptions of simple propitiatory astral remedial measures for the functional malefic planets.  The articles of food can be offered to birds/animals/beggars as a propitiatory measure as per the taste and color of the concerned planet detailed here under:

PROPITIATORY MEASURES FOR THE FUNCTIONAL MALEFIC PLANETS

SUN:

     •  Offering of soaked crushed wheat and jaggery (gur) to a cow on Sunday or daily as per the extent of affliction.

     •  Rendering service to father.

     •  Surya namaskar at the time of sunrise.

MOON:

     •  Offering dough to a cow on Mondays or daily.

     •  Rendering service to one's mother or elderly ladies in distress.

     •  Donating rice to beggars.

     •  Giving of boiled rice with sugar to crows.

     •  Keeping a fresh pot of water for the birds.

MARS:

     •  Exercising patience.

     •  Helping younger brothers/servants.

     •  Prayers/meditation every morning for at least ten minutes.

     *   Offering Bhog to lord Hanuman on every Tuesday.

     *   Reciting Hanuman Chalisa daily in the morning.

MERCURY:

     •  Watering a tulsi tree in the morning.

     •  Giving green fodder or leaves (palak/spinach) to cows on Wednesday.

     •  Donating green pulse to a temple on Wednesdays.

     •  Donating twice in a year to orphan homes.

     •  Charities to poor students.

JUPITER:

     •  Watering a peeple tree in the morning.

     •  Offering a banana to beggars or to crows in small pieces.

     •  Offering a yellow colored sweet (bundi laddu) to crows.

     •  Rendering service to one’s preceptor.

VENUS:

     •  Offering fine quality food articles like sweet rice made in milk, burfy, rasagulla, etc. to crows.

     •  Donating silken clothes of bright colors.

     •  Donating sugar, rice and cooking oil.

SATURN:

     •  Watering a peeple tree in the morning.

     •  Donating black grams.

     •  Offering salty rice with dal (lentils) to beggars/crows.

     •  Offering salted roti (bread) with mustard oil applied on it, in pieces to crows every morning.

     •  Donating black pulses or salt or mustard oil on Saturdays.

     •  Be considerate to servants and/or the poor.

RAHU:

     •  Serving one's parents.

     •  Offering sweet parantha (Indian pancake) with sugar stuffed in it and fried, in small pieces to crows every day in the morning.

     •  Charities and service to lepers.

KETU:

     •  Giving food (milk bread slices) to street dogs.

     •  Donating dull brown colored items.

     •  Prayers to Lord Ganesha.

     •  Rendering service to elderly people and saints.

NOTES:

     1. Performance in the morning after bath, prayers and before taking breakfast regularly indicates optimum results.

     2. In case the native is unable to do so as in the situations of sickness or out of town or in the case of children, these can be performed by parents or spouse.

     3. If the offering is not accepted by a dog/cow, another cow/dog should be tried.

     4. The remedial measures should be performed regularly.

     5. Performance of any one of the above measures for a particular planet would suffice.

STRENGTHENING FOR THE FUNCTIONAL BENEFIC PLANETS

     1. Wearing of a 'Kavach' or a Special Power Kavach or a Special Purpose Kavach for all of the functional benefic planets beginning at an auspiciously elected time.  For details the readers may refer to our book, "Predictive Techniques and the Application of Astrological Remedial Measures".  As the Kavach contains the mystical numbers of all the functional benefic planets for a particular ascendant, wearing it on a permanent basis generally dispenses with the necessity of wearing gems especially different stones for different planets. In the case of severe afflictions wearing of Special Power Kavach with gemstones is recommended.

     2. Wearing of gemstones for functional benefic planets in auspiciously elected time.

     3. Wearing of a special power Kavach or Kavach with gemstones for very weak and severely afflicted functional benefic planets.

     4. Color therapy.

The dress of colors indicated for each planet, when a functional benefic, on days ruled by the concerned planet, should be used as follows:

     Sun        -   Orange, Pink, Golden.

     Moon     -   White and Silver.

     Mars      -   Burning Red.

     Mercury -   Dark Green.

     Jupiter   -   Yellow.

     Venus    -   Royal Blue or bright multi-colored clothes.

     Saturn    -   Shining Black, Dark Brown, Blackish Blue.

TRADITIONAL REMEDIAL MEASURES

Charities and prayers are prescribed for propitiating the afflicting planets whereas the use of color therapy, gems therapy or Kavach connected with the functional benefic planets are prescribed for strengthening the weak planets.  The strengthening measures should not be provided to the planets which are functional malefic planets for a nativity.

For offering prayers, the deities of planets are as follows:

     Sun        -   Fire, Lord Vishnu.

     Moon     -   Lord Shiva, Water.

     Mars      -   Lord Hanuman.

     Mercury -   Goddess Durga.

     Jupiter   -   Brahma.

     Venus     -   Goddess Lakshmi.

     Saturn   -   Bhairava.*

     Rahu      -   Bhairava.*

     Ketu       -   Lord Ganesha.

     *Bhairava is another form of Lord Shiva.

MAHA UPAYAS (ULTIMATE REMEDIAL MEASURES)

     For men -   Serving parents and needy persons.

     For women- Serving parents-in-law, parents or needy persons.

The blessings earned are competent to ward off evils of all types and especially of Rahu/Ketu completely.
