LEARN ASTROLOGY - LESSON 84
"Divisional Chart : Hora"
The divisional chart 'Hora' i.e. the D-II is studied for analysing the position of wealth in one's life. Hora is ruled by either the Sun or the Moon. In D-II the planets are placed only in the hora of the Sun and the Moon. The planets in the hora of the Sun bless the native with affluences (wealth) to a greater extent in comparison to the planets in the hora of the Moon.
The second house rules the wealth. If the second house does not contain a mooltrikona sign then the wealth is ruled by the fourth house; if the fourth house does not contain a mooltrikona sign then the wealth is ruled by the ninth house; and if the ninth house, too, does not contain a mooltrikona sign then the wealth is ruled by the lord of the ascendant. From Aries to Pisces, the Moon, the Sun, the Moon, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Venus, Jupiter, the Sun, Saturn, Venus and Mars become the prime indicators of wealth in seriatim. Jupiter is the significator for good financial gains. Venus is the general significator for wealth. Wealth is accumulated surplus.
In addition to the strength of the prime indicator of wealth, the strength of the general significator for wealth and the strength of the significator for good financial gains in the birth chart, the results are dependant on a twofold strength i.e. the strength of the Sun and the Moon in whose hora various other planets are placed and the strength of the planets other than the Sun and the Moon.
During the sub-periods of planets placed in the hora of the Sun and in the sub-periods of the Sun, itself, a person earns and accumulates wealth by his efforts. However, the extent of the earnings and accumulation is solely dependent on the strength of the concerned planets. During the sub-periods of planets placed in the hora of the Moon and in the sub-periods of the Moon, itself, the earnings and accumulation come naturally without much effort but are solely dependent on the strength of the concerned planets. The study of hora is taken up along with the prime indicator of wealth, the significator for wealth, Venus, and the significator for good financial gains, Jupiter. The close influence of functional benefic planets on the prime indicator of wealth, on the significator for wealth, on the significator for good financial gains and on the lord of the ascendant in the hora chart harnesses the wealth of the native in the main/sub-periods of the concerned planets.

The sign Aquarius rises in the ascendant and the Moon, Mercury, Rahu and Ketu are functional malefic planets. There is no mooltrikona sign in the second and fourth houses. The wealth, in this case, is indicated by the ninth house. The significator for good financial gains, Jupiter, being a functional benefic, is closely conjunct with the most effective point of the seventh house and closely aspects the most effective points of the eleventh, first and third houses. Jupiter is the lord of the eleventh house ruling income. Jupiter is a planet of affluence as it is connected with treasury. Jupiter in this case is posited in a royal sign, Leo. The combinations for wealth and income seem to be quite good and indicate significant developments in the life. The weak and debilitated Moon ruling the sixth house and signifying financial position and health is closely conjunct with Rahu. Mercury is strong in the nativity indicating that the native has good chances for easy and sudden earnings. The lord of the ninth house, Venus, being simultaneously the prime indicator of wealth and the general significator of wealth, is strong in the chart and is in the ninth house indicating comforts, luxuries and good fortune. The lord of the ascendant is exalted and well placed in the ninth house. The lord of the seventh house although well placed in the ninth house is very weak as it is debilitated in rasi and in navamsa besides being in the state of infancy.
Let us examine the D-II. Most of the planets are posited in the hora of the Sun, meaning thereby that the native works for increase of wealth. From fifteenth year of life, the native had main period of Venus, which is in the hora of the Moon. The native held such appointments, which provided him easy income. In the natal chart the Sun and the Moon lose strength being debilitated. Whenever the Sun or the Moon is under the close influence of Rahu, the native cares less for the means to accumulate the wealth. The lord of the ninth occupying the ninth house had its time early in life, which helped the native to accumulate sizeable wealth in its main period.

The sign Taurus rises in the ascendant and Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Rahu and Ketu are the functional malefic planets. As there is no mooltrikona sign in the second house, the wealth is ruled by the fourth house. Mercury is weak as it is placed in the state of old-age and occupies the fourth house in the royal sign Leo. The fourth house is ruled by the Sun, which is placed in the fourth house, itself. The Sun is weak as it is exactly afflicted by Rahu from the twelfth house. Jupiter, being ruler of inheritance in this case, is well placed in the chart and is not involved in close afflictions. This gave a large inheritance to the native in the form of wealth. The significator for wealth, Venus, is a functional malefic planet in this nativity but is not causing any close affliction and is well placed in the second house. The native during the course of his professional career earned and accumulated fabulous wealth amounting to millions of rupees.
In hora chart, Mercury and Venus occupy the hora of the Moon and the remaining planets are in the hora of the Sun. In the main chart the position of the Sun is good but the influence of Rahu is not good. Under such an influence the natives care less for the established norms of the society. The Moon is strong in the second house.
During the main period of Saturn in the hora of the Sun, the native worked for earning money and a lot of wealth came in without matching efforts. Saturn falls in the hora of the Sun.

The sign Taurus rises in the ascendant and Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Rahu and Ketu are the functional malefic planets. As there is no mooltrikona sign in the second house, the wealth is ruled by the fourth house. The general significator for wealth, Venus, is a functional malefic planet in this nativity but is not causing any close affliction and is well placed in the second house. The significator for good financial gains, Jupiter, rules inheritance and obstructions and occupies the tenth house in close conjunction with the lord of the house of the initiatives and the most effective point of the tenth house. The prime indicator of wealth, the Sun, is well placed in the ascendant but is weak as its mooltrikona house and its house of placement are exactly afflicted by Jupiter and Ketu respectively but is well placed in the chart. A strong Sun in a nativity gives leadership quality and makes a person a successful manager and organizer. The close affliction to the most effective points of the tenth and second houses was taken care of by the Sun to a large extent. The native has earned a lot of wealth through his ventures in the field of sports and through legacies despite obstructions given by Jupiter.
In hora chart, the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter occupy the hora of the Moon while rest of the planets is in the hora of the Sun. Both the Sun and the Moon are well placed in the natal chart as they occupy angular houses. In the close conjunction of Jupiter and the Moon, Jupiter is gainer and the native was blessed with lot of wealth during the favorable sub-periods in the main period of Jupiter as the same is placed in the hora of the Moon. However, during the sub-period of Saturn in the main period of Saturn, which is in the hora of the Sun, the native had to really work hard for earning and accumulation.

The sign Libra rises in the ascendant and Mercury, Rahu and Ketu become functional malefic planets. As there is no mooltrikona sign in the second, in the fourth and in the ninth houses, Venus, being the general significator of wealth, becomes also the prime indicator of wealth. Mars, the lord of the seventh house, is placed in the second house in close conjunction with Jupiter, the lord of the third house and significator for good financial gains. The Sun occupies the third house in close conjunction with Saturn. The Moon, the lord of the tenth house, is weak and occupies a trine. The general significator for wealth, Venus, is strong in the second house.
The close conjunction of the lords of the third and seventh houses in the second houses causes a yoga for wealth from foreign lands/distant places. The close conjunction of the lords of the fifth and eleventh houses in the third house causes another yoga for wealth through one's own intellectual pursuits and professional related to the consultancy.
In the hora chart, most of the planets are in the hora of the Moon. The Moon, Mars, Mercury and Jupiter are in the hora of the Sun.
The combustion of Saturn and utter weakness of the Moon gave grave physical problems to the native with the onset of the main period of Saturn. However, so far income and accumulation of wealth is concerned that kept on increasing due to strong Venus in the second house; closely conjunct lords of the eleventh and fifth houses in the third house of communications; and the close conjunctions of the lords of the third and seventh houses in the second house. The native worked in the fields of communications and with domestic and foreign employers.
